The Simple Woman’s Daybook

June 23, 2008
Outside my window: There is dirt spilled on the patio where Gen was pretending the “garden,” playing with soil and flower pots last night.
I am thinking: I need to get ready to to take Gen to the park this morning.
I am thankful for: Calvin was given some work this week.
From the kitchen: Using up an extra gallon of raw milk!  Homemade yogurt is almost complete.  It has been keeping warm overnight, and I will pull it out in a few minutes. Homemade cheese is in the process of forming; the whey is straining from the curds right now.
I am wearing: A lightweight, cream-colored, satin dressing gown that my mom gave me as a bridal shower gift 6 years ago… I really should change into the flowered dress I have laying out!
I am creating: A few new recipes.  Sewing has been put off for this week.

I am going: To meet new friends tonight for a potluck.

I am reading: Voluntary Simplicity by Duane Elgin
I am hoping: My mom and sister will be able to visit this summer.  They called last night; discussing a possible trip!  (We haven’t seen them since Thanksgiving, as they live 3000 miles away.)
I am hearing: Clinking of measuring cups, as Gen is pretending to cook.
Around the house: I am noticing that some tidying up needs to be done this afternoon.
One of my favorite things: Smelling the rose water that I sprayed on after my morning shower.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Hopefully, a movie night with my walking/book group.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing: A new hat for the summer!  I found it for $2.50 while we were on vacation.  I’m thinking it will work well for outings this summer.
