A few months ago, we switched from using a “conventional” toothpaste (you know, the kind that advertises “teeth whitening”), to using a more natural toothpaste. We love the natural toothpaste, and our teeth feel so clean!
However, I soon noticed my teeth weren’t as white as they once were. In fact, I began to notice some staining on my front teeth from sipping tea! Well, I certainly wasn’t going to go buy expensive (and scary!) bleach for my teeth or run to the dentist.
I discovered the solution sitting right on my counter. I keep a jar of baking soda by the bathroom sink for scrubbing my face. I sprinkled some baking soda onto a finger, and rubbed it onto my teeth. I continued, allowing the baking soda to build up on my teeth, as I rubbed on “layers” of it. (At one point, I did try brushing it with a toothbrush, but that didn’t seem too effective.)
Within about a minute, I finished rubbing baking soda on my teeth, and rinsed my mouth well with water. The difference was amazing! When Calvin got home, he even noticed how white my teeth were.
I kept peering into the mirror throughout the day, waiting to see if the stains would reappear. Weeks later, they are still gone! I remembered later, that years ago, the mom of a childhood friend kept a small jar of baking soda in her bathroom. She decorated it with glitter, and labeled it “Magic Tooth Powder.” The kids thought it was fun to rub it on their teeth once in awhile (and they did have beautiful teeth!).
So, I had healthy, and basically free teeth whitening! It works for me! Go to Rocks In My Dryer for more Works For Me Wednesday ideas!
