Each week, I post a Bargain Meal idea, based on our local New Seasons Market ad of the week. This week’s recipe is a basic hot meal, combined with some fresh produce; perfect for a chilly rainy day! It’s a great “busy day” recipe, since it can just simmer in the crockpot all day. (Wow, I think I need to get one of those; right now, everything just simmers on the stove in our house!)
The original recipe is calls for “Spicy” sausage, but I am substituting a milder turkey sausage, which is on sale this week. If using dry beans, I recommend soaking them prior to cooking. Canned beans can be used for a quicker meal, and would basically just need to be heated up (not cooked for several hours in the crockpot).
