(Well, this is where one is supposed to go anyway…)
Each week, I post a Bargain Meal idea, based on our local New Seasons Market ad of the week. But this week, I was disappointed at the sale options (or lack thereof). The majority of the items in the ad this week are packaged, processed foods that I won’t recommend spending your grocery budget on (such as boxed cookies, cereal, chips, small cartons of yogurt, and chocolate bars). Well, maybe the chocolate bars could be considered an essential… but I’m not sure that would pass for a dinner at my house!
Hopefully you’ve been stocking your freezer/pantry whenever good sales have been available! There are a couple items that look like possibilities, if your produce bin is looking a bit meager:
- Woodstock Frozen Organic Vegetables (on sale for $1.99/10 oz)
- Watermelon (on sale for $0.59/lb) I prefer to wait for the local ones to ripen, but this could be a fun treat for a barbecue!
- Also, the Traditional Medicinals Teas are on sale ($3.99/box). These are a pantry staple item in our kitchen, for a quick herbal remedy treatment, or to use in making my Homemade Shampoo recipe!
