Journey of Blessing: Unbelief

When your husband does not yet know the love of Christ, as his wife, you are called to minister to him in a unique way. God has called all believers to evangelism, always ready to give an answer for what you believe, and this will include your interactions with your husband.

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…” (1 Peter 3:15)

Whether or not your husband is an unbeliever, these are foundational truths in your role as a wife. I hope you will be encouraged and inspired as you read, my friend.

Continually pray for your husband! Allow God to transform your thoughts toward your husband, equipping you to flee from bitterness and anger. Yes, he may act un-Christlike, but is that a surprise, as an unbeliever?

As you wholeheartedly bless your husband with love, compassion, respect, and dedication, God will continue speaking to your husband’s heart, in His time.

“If a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife…”(Read 1 Corinthians 7: 13-15)

Flee from sin and appearance of evil. Conduct yourself modestly, and avoid situations where you might be alone with another man. Do not allow your mind to dwell on temptation.

Spending time with romance novels or movies, bridal magazines, or even coveting the relationship your friends from church have with their husbands can all lead to discontent and bitterness. If you are unmarried, seek to guard your future marriage even now, by fleeing from these thoughts!

Remember, you are a Daughter of the King. Our Lord encourages us, has called us to Wholeness, fulfills our deepest Longing, carries us through the Impossible, and ministers to us in Loneliness. (This is Part 7 in our Journey of Blessing series.)

  • Great advice. I don’t know if I could share the same advice myself. There are some things women need to train women on and some things men need to train men on.

You’ve done a great job. I’ll be pointing people to your posts.
