Menu Plan Monday 7.18-7.24

We will be having guests visiting during the next few weeks, so I am planning some larger meals, as well as accommodating different food allergies/tastes.

What are YOUR favorite “Company Meals?”


  • Breakfast: Brown Rice, Eggs
  • Lunch: Cheese, Popcorn, Watermelon
  • Dinner: Homemade Hummus, Homemade Tortillas, Cucumber & Carrot Sticks


  • Breakfast: Puffed Oven Pancake, Homemade Yogurt, Raw Honey
  • Lunch: Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Watermelon
  • Dinner: Homemade Pizza, Green Salad

To Do: Bake GF Bread, Thaw Soup


  • Breakfast: Cream Cheese & Garden Herb Omelets, Toast
  • Lunch: Cheese Sandwiches, Leftover Pea Soup
  • Dinner: Baked Beans, Corn Flour Bread, Carrot Sticks

To Do: Thaw Zucchini, Thaw Beef, Make Strawberry Jam, Bake Sourdough Bread, Soak Beans


To Do: Soak Beans, Soak Porridge, Make Yogurt, Soak Brown Rice


  • Breakfast: Porridge with Peanut Butter
  • Lunch: Cheese Sandwiches, Cherries
  • Dinner: Beef Tacos, (using Homemade Yogurt & Homemade Tortillas), Homemade Refried Beans, Brown Rice, Home-Canned Pears


  • Breakfast: Cherry Oven Pancake (from Simply in Season), Yogurt
  • Lunch: Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Cherries
  • Dinner: BBQ, Millet & Veggie Salad. Asian Cabbage Coleslaw

To Do: Soak Porridge, Soak Brown Rice


  • Breakfast: Strawberry Coconut Porridge (based on Nourishing Traditions recipe)
  • Lunch: Egg Salad Sandwiches, Cucumber
  • Dinner: Fish Cakes, Brown Rice, leftover Salads

  • I love soups, stew, chilis, etc. I find the are great for having guests because they tend to be more frugal meals and can really stretch. Plus, if different people are doing different things, a pot of soup can sit on the stove and people can eat when they are ready.

    I also do tacos a lot when we have guests. There are endless variations on tacos and beans, so you really can suit a lot of people’s tastes.

    I also like to stick with easier meals when I have guests because then I can spend more time visiting with our guests and less time in the kitchen!

    Just wanted to say thanks! I had been meal planning for an entire month for my husband, our 1 year-old, and myself until we recently started fostering 4 kiddos! It seems like everything I was used to went out the window, and I’m starting over from scratch. I really like the meals you plan, and am inspired to give it another go!



  • I happened upon your blog through ‘homemakers cottage’ and have enjoyed it very much! I love simple living and the talent of being organized. Making a weekly menu is something I am striving to do more consistently and I really enjoyed browsing yours. One of my favorite “Company Meals” is what we call “Haystacks”. Layer chips, beans (we are vegetarian and I make my own chili style beans)these are served hot over the chips, then cheese, lettuce, tomato, olives, onion, cucumber, avocado, top with sour cream, salsa, etc… a wonderful way to use garden veggies and each haystack is created by the eater with only the items they love most;) Also makes a wonderful summer supper!
