A Simple Wardrobe: Handmade Skirts Giveaway!

Over the past few years, I have come to adore the femininity of wearing skirts throughout my days. Since I wear them for both work and play, I need sturdy, well-made, modest (and yet attractive) pieces. I keep my wardrobe simple with classic colors that mix and match well.

When I received a new brown ruffle skirt from The Modest Mom, one of our sponsors this month, I wore it three times in the first week!

I wore it cooking and serving food, changing diapers, playing on the floor with little ones, cleaning the house, doing laundry, and running errands. (It hides spots & splatters well!)

I dressed it up with a classic wool boxy jacket and Vintage Pearl jewelry for work days, as I hosted tea parties and had a date with my husband. Then on more casual days for outings, I tossed on a denim jacket, jersey scarf, and simple top. I love wearing layers that I can adjust during the day as needed, through different activities, room temperatures, and errands.

I’ve found that investing in a couple well-made, versatile staples is much more frugal that regularly purchasing poor quality items that will need replacing or mending quickly.

I’m joining in with What I Wore Wednesday this week:

{Brown Skirt from The Modest Mom, Black/White Double Ruffle Skirt & Peasant Blouse from The Scarlet Thread, Organic Green Jersey Scarf on sale/gift card from Fair Indigo, Ruffled White Blouse from Buffalo Exchange, Denim Jacket from Goodwill}

I still keep my outfits simple for “accessible” breastfeeding. I rarely need to nurse in public anymore, since my baby is now 17 months old (pretty much a morning/night-time thing now), but I love her gorgeous nursing covers!

Having a nursing cover (made for me by a friend) was perfect when my little guy was tiny, and yet so distracted by all the fun going on around us.

It really does become part of your wardrobe during those early days, so choose one you love.
