Running the dryer endlessly shows up on the electric bill, and wet clothes sit in the washer, waiting for the dryer to get done (especially those heavy loads like diapers, towels, or bedding- which in our business, is pretty often).
After we gathered them up and talked about not throwing them around the laundry room, we were pleased to see our laundry getting dry much faster!
I have used a dash of white vinegar in our washer for years now, as a natural substitute for fabric softener, but it still costs me about $4 per month- and it doesn’t speed up the drying time at all.
So, when The Willow Store sent me some EveryDay Willow Wool Dryer Balls to try out, I was intrigued. A friend of mine has raved about her wool dryer balls, but I never got around to using them- until now.
My dryer has a “moisture sensor,” so it only runs as long as it “needs” to. After doing a large load of laundry (without the dryer balls) that took over an hour to dry, I immediately tossed the 3 Dryer Balls into the next load.
Success! The load (full of sheets and towels) was dry in less then an hour, and nice and soft.
With less drying time, plus not using the vinegar, I’m guessing this will be a good cost-savings on my laundry, as they should last for years!
The Willow Store has offered to give away a set of EveryDay Willow Wool Dryer Balls to a Frugal Granola reader!
