Book Giveaway from Money Saving Mom!

Years ago, when we first started our journey of living frugally, I began reading Crystal’s blog at Money Saving Mom. After enjoying her helpful tips and encouragement for years, as well as getting to know her in person, I was thrilled when she published her new book!

The Money Saving Mom’s Budget compiles all of Crystals’ advice into a helpful handbook for successfully (and contentedly!) living on a budget (for your money and your time!).

Over the years, we have used similar financial worksheets (like the ones included in the back of the book), to balance our budget and set financial goals. We’ve also juggled our busy lives/businesses using the time management/budgeting tools (originally inspired by Tell Your Time.)

As we’ve moved out of the city (where I originally applied some of her shopping tips), I’ve still been able to stick to our budget with her streamlined shopping techniques, even without doing the “drugstore game.” I rarely clip coupons (since our favorite co-op and discount grocery stores don’t accept them), and I only visit drugstores when we’re on a city trip (and even then, it’s usually just for a photo-printing sale).

However, she also offers many additional suggestions for keeping your grocery budget in check. Planning for monthly (or less often) grocery shopping trips, paying with cash, making homemade items, stocking our freezer wisely, choosing frugal vacation ideas, and other cost-cutting & organizational tips have make a huge impact.

Over the past couple months since reading The Money Saving Mom’s Budget, I’ve been inspired to continue eliminating the clutter in our home (along with my many “pre-baby nesting projects). I’ve been regularly hauling boxes of stuff to the thrift store, and finally unpacking boxes from our across-town move over a year ago!

A Giveaway!

I’ve been excited to share this book with you, and we have three copies of the book to give away! Enter to win your own copy of The Money Saving Mom’s Budget by leaving a comment on this blog post, letting us know one of your financial goals!

No purchase necessary. Giveaway ends 4/17/12. Winners will be randomly selected by random.org. I received a free review copy of the book, and links are affiliate links. All opinions are my own, and this is an uncompensated post.

We have implemented many frugal ways of living in the last three years. Several life changes such as critical health issues, job loss – no unemployment, and serious issues with kids landed us on the frugal path for survival sake. We continue to search for employment to date, but once we are blessed with a suitable job, we intened to continue our frugal lifestyle in everyway. It has now become a part of us – a part we do not wish to release. Through our journey we have come to realize that enough is synonymous with abundance.

  • Pam Craig

We have been in a season of life where we have built up some debt and have not been able to increase our savings. We have several financial goals at our house. I have been using coupons for a few months, and have had some success reducing our grocery bill. We also have tried to supplement the grocery bill with food from our garden, with varied success. Gardening is definitely a trial and error process.

Our next financial goal is to build an emergency fund. The house and cars are getting older, which means more repairs. It would be nice to have the money there when it is needed instead of the stress of trying to figure out how to pay for life’s little “surprises”.

Thank you for the opportunity to win this book and learn more ways to become financially secure.

I don’t want to have to tell them anymore that I can’t buy food because I can’t afford it or that they have to wear shoes with holes in them until I can afford to buy them a new pair. So that is my financial goal, I’m working towards it and paying off all debt! So any money saving tips I can get, I’ll use!
