Simple Mother’s Day Adventure

Post by Contributing Writer, Calvin

We started Mother’s Day by hanging out with the high school Sunday school class we teach. Michele and I love being around these kids because they possess an authenticity that only teenagers could have. (And they don’t seem to mind when our toddler throws his toy

Flying Paper Airplanes (made from junk mail).

Rolling a little red wooden ball.

Reading stacks of new library books.

Wearing colorful flannel shirts and thermals.

Munching (flourless) peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (made by little hands from a magazine recipe!).

A bit of mending for a friend.

Tearing old magazine pages for collages.

Sipping cups of hot tea.

Cuddling in quilts.

Simple Handmade Gardening Gift Set

The perfect gift for children (or any gardener), this gift set is simple & frugal to put together in a short time!

I usually save seeds from previous gardens, as well as stock up on bulk organic seeds (such as from Mountain Rose Herbs), instead of paying $2-$3 each for those tiny little packets of seeds

Why “Living Simply” Isn’t Simple At All

Post by Contributing Writer, Lydia

She eyes me as I diaper my son in the Parent Room at church one Sunday morning.  “It’s really not a big deal” I tell her, depositing the soiled diaper in my wetbag and stashing it in the diaper bag.  “Just an extra two loads of laundry a week.”  She

Simple Thankfulness in Lent

I’m not Catholic, but I love Lent. It is an incredible stretching season of thankfulness for me; of simply immersing myself in a new gratitude for 40 days.

The Lenten season is different each year for our family; whether it’s a new time of fasting, giving, or something else. But it’s always simply

A Slow Winter

Yes, both little ones are tucked into that wagon, with a pile of blankets, as we head to the church building!

Amazing inches of snow, surprising us on the eve of springtime by falling for days this past week, has kept us marveling at the wonder of God’s Beauty, as we wade through the

A Resting Day (& Call for Contributing Writers!)

{Photo Credit}

My Beloved graciously allowed me a day of rest and “retreat” earlier this week. I was able to spend much of the day lingering in prayer, jotting down goals and preparations as a wife, mama, and keeper of our home, listening to worship music, doing some yoga stretching exercises, and reading.

I did go
